Madrasah Re-opening (Stage 2)

Respected Parents,

The government has given guidelines on opening of places of worship and madrasahs. Now It is our responsibility to plan a phased reopening based on our judgement of what is safest for our Madrasah’s children and staff. This letter explains to you our plan, although it is provisional and could be changed or postponed at any moment based on our interpretation of the ever-changing advice and evidence.

Preparations are ongoing. Pupils have been split up into groups, the names of whom we have received. Classrooms and staff are being sorted. Confirmation will be sent once we are in a position to open.
Once your child has started Madrasah, they will continue to attend. Please bear in mind that we will have small groups and with limited space, so if your child is not going to attend regularly, that place can be used for another child instead.

If your child`s name has not been sent already, Madrasah office will need confirmation one week before you wish your child to start, so we can make arrangements due to the safety of staff and students.
Sabaq will be put up on e-madrasah daily, so your children can keep up with the class if they are not attending. Absences will not be counted if your child will not be attending.

Madrasah Day
There will be a staggered start and end to the day to enable children to enter and leave at a safe distance from each other. You will receive confirmation of times soon.
Children must be prepared before they come to madrasah, e.g. do wudhu from home.
There will be automated hand sanitisers available in each class. Staff will also carry hand sanitisers with them. The toilets will have touch-free- sensor flush, but we strongly advise parents to ensure children are fully ready before they come to Madrasah. We have noticed, children run to the toilet as soon as they enter the class, as they have been out shopping or came straight from school and had no time.

Classrooms
Class sizes will be small, classes may be divided to adhere to the social distancing measures. They will have fixed places and they will strictly not be allowed to move around even within the class. Your child will not share anything with any student. All stationary has been put away. They will only bring things which will be needed. You will receive a message to let you know what you need to send in. Each group will be taught by a teacher. Unfortunately, it cannot be guaranteed that your child will be in their previous classroom or have their previous class teacher.
Within each class, hygiene will be the highest priority. Your child will be instructed to sanitise their hands upon every entry and exit of Madrasah. They may not share anything with another pupil.

Water Bottles
Please send a named bottle of water that your child can drink from. No one will be allowed to touch or share.

Uniform
Uniform should be changed straight after Madrasah. Clothes should be washed regularly. Girls will be allowed to wear different coloured burkas and jabbas, to allow for frequent washing.

Cleaning
Frequently touched areas e.g. banisters, patlas, etc will be cleaned more regularly than normal and after each session, if classes have to be divided for smaller groups. Madrasah may close early some days to allow for deep cleaning.

Treatment
If your child requires any first aid help at Madrasah for any reason, they will be tended to as usual by a trained member of staff, but that member of staff will wear full personal protective equipment. This will consist of gloves and an apron or face mask (depending on treatment).

Parents
Parents and other visitors will strictly not be allowed in the building . We will be available to speak on the telephone only. In the exceptional event of a meeting being necessary, an appointment should be made, and strict social distancing rules will be applied throughout the meeting.

Home time
Arrival at and departure from Madrasah will be staggered. It is essential that your child arrives only at their allotted time . If you collect your child from Madrasah, you must wait in the car park and maintain a 1 metre distance from all other parents and should not gather around. Only one person from each household may collect a child or children from that household. A pupil may not be dropped off or collected by someone from another household or come in another car. If your child walks to Madrasah on their own, they must have no contact with any other child from outside their class. Any failure to keep these rules could limit your child’s access to Madrasah.

We will
Signs
There will be signs to remind the children to keep at a safe distance and to help them keep themselves safe. We will send pictures, once our preparations are complete.

Symptoms :
The most important symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are a recent onset of any of the following: · a new continuous cough
· a high temperature
· a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell
For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness. However, if you have any of the symptoms above you must stay at home and arrange to have a test to see if you have COVID-19.

Important
If you have symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), however mild, OR you have received a positive coronavirus (COVID-19) test result, the clear medical advice is to immediately self-isolate at home for at least 7 days from when your symptoms started. Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy, or hospital. You should arrange to have a test to see if you have COVID-19.
Consider alerting the people that you have had close contact within the last 48 hours to let them know you have symptoms of coronavirus COVID-19. Please also let us know if you or a member of your household has been tested positive to COVID 19.

Following a positive test result, you will receive a request by text, email, or phone to log into the NHS Test and Trace service website and provide information about recent close contacts
After 7 days, or longer, if you still have symptoms other than cough or loss of sense of smell/taste, you must continue to self-isolate until you feel better
You do not need to self-isolate if you only have a cough or loss of sense of smell/taste after 7 days, as these symptoms can last for several weeks after the infection has gone.
If you live with others and you are the first in the household to have symptoms of coronavirus (COVID19), then you must stay at home for at least 7 days. All other household members who remain well must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the household became ill.

Staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection that people in your household could pass on to others in the community.
If anyone else in the household starts displaying symptoms, they must stay at home for at least 7 days from when their symptoms appeared, regardless of what day they are on in their original 14-day isolation period
Therefore, if your child suffers from a cough or has a temperature of 37.8C (100F) or a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell – please ensure your child does not come to Madrasah and self isolates at home. Please notify Madrasah office on 07913975742 . They should remain at home until 7 days after the onset of symptoms. After 7 days, if they feel better and no longer have a high temperature, they can return to their normal routine.

We will continue to promote good hand and respiratory hygiene with our pupils: ·
Use hand sanitizer upon entering and leaving the class
Catch coughs or sneezes with a tissue, throw the tissue in the bin and wash hands
Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
Please bear in mind, we will do our utmost to try and keep our children safe. However, we cannot guarantee a virus free Madrasah.

Please do not hesitate to ring me if you have any questions.
